OFFICIAL SELECTION Short Film Corner at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2009.
The sun rises slowly in the horizon. Emptiness. Only nature present. A Farmer goes about his daily routine. A girl cruises through the rural American landscape. She is searching for the Farmer, a famous writer now turned hermit.
Heartland tells the story of this encounter; it records the collision of two forces, youth and age, hope and disillusionment. Just a farmer now, he has not only stopped writing but has given up language completely. He lives close to the land, away from human contact and surrounded by nature. The girl seeks to understand the brilliance behind the stories that have inspired her.
The Girl does not find a legend, just a man.
